Frequently asked questions

Well technically, it covers all DOC huts which are bookable online. Ones where there is no way to book them online we cannot check the availability for. They are done one first in first serve basis on the day when you turn up.

There is a 24 hour grace period after you have set it up where it can be changed. To do this contact us through the website and we will confirm when the changes have been made.

In the alert email there is an unsubscribe link under each alert on the table. To unsubscribe simply click that link and confirm your email. If you want to unsubscribe from all alerts you can also select that as an option. Note, once you have unsubscribed there is no way to recover your alert if you change your mind.

When huts become unavailable in situations such as the hut closing for maintenance, we remove them as an option to subscribe to. We do this so you don’t pay for our service if there is is no chance of a spot opening up. However sometimes we do miss when the hut reopens. If you feel that something is missing, please reach out to us through the website and we will make it an available option.

Sometimes it does take time for spots to open up, especially for popular routes. When you sign up, you will receive an invoice as well as a confirmation email of your alert parameters. As long as you have these there is nothing to worry about. You will be in the system and notified as soon as a spot opens up.

Make sure to check that the availability matches your search parameters, particularly number of spots. If you are after a higher number of spots, you will not be alerted if only one or two open up. Often spots open up in groups of one or two. If you still feel that something is wrong, reach out to us through the website and we will help you to get to the bottom of the issue.

We scan for hut availability every few hours. The reason that it is done this way is because the more frequently the site is scanned, the more expensive it becomes to maintain this tool, increasing costs for you. However if enough of you would prefer to pay more to have a higher cadence we would love to hear your feedback.

We cover all Great Walks huts, but only a select amount of other huts based on demand. If you can’t find your hut as an option, contact us and we will get it set up for you.
